Honey Dust at Peri's on a Wednesday night is where you want to be these days.

So why aren't I there tonight? Shhh..

Buttercup.

I am really not sure if this is the best tune to share with the world particularly when I have the absolutely ragin 'Blocked it Out' on film that closed out the show but Buttercup is a song about Perseverance and Hope as Darren tells me and I have the interview too..  somewhere. And perseverance is .. sometimes a hard road.
(Perseverance Guy.. )

(Yes I know it's out of focus.. no that's not my shtick. I am old, blind, drunk, and don't own an auto-focus plus the world moves fast...)

Honey Dust has been around about maybe almost a year. The band is lead by Darren Nelson, guitar and vocals primary songwriter. Someone if you have been following the story line here over the years you would have known that Darren was formerly in the band Jumbo that I used to call the greatest Party Rock band in the USA...

After the demise of Jumbo back in 2001 I can't tell you the whole story but Darren joined up with Don Gallardo who with Joey Midnight on guitar and Lee Ray Bittner on drums they fashioned themselves sort of Country Heavy Rock style called themselves The Station changed the name to the Fitts somewhere along the line...
played a lot, all the players got to work on their craft in the school of Rock,
the band made it to at least one show at the Fillmore in SF opening for someone
or other. Don's band never really quite grabbed me.  It was more than a year ago they all sort of slowed down and started doing acoustic jams on Wednesday night
that's where things really started to develop. Mike Weiss the bass player with the Billy Boys started hanging out regularly when Don took off to pursue his music in LA
Darren picked it up.. just before he made the decision to join the Fitts way back he did make at least one appearance with his own band called The Suburban Legends.
So this is not the first band Darren has fronted.

A lot of people around here are really glad that Darren is out front with his humor,
good looks, rock and roll fervor. High time every show. Now this Buttercup tune is kind of sweet and you must be warned that somewhere in the ether, in the ozone,
in the swamps, over the rainbow maybe in outer space or whereever Rednecks and Longhairs can rock out together in Peace with the help of some good brew or anything...
somewhere is where this band exists.

The band is armed and dangerous they are not for wimps. They sing tunes about shooting Bartenders, raising Hell, little Nikki masturbating (I hate to even write that word down) Bad bad bad... Kicking people in the Knees. In other words tasteless crap. You'll love it or maybe not.. if you are my mother.
Cmon guy speak some truth once in a while..
Well it's by no means pure tasteless crap in fact none of it is tasteless crap, I just said that because it's not all exactly angelic ..  it's just brilliant shit in all kinds of disguises and sometimes right in your face.

'Blocked it Out' is one of the more brilliant tunes I have heard in the longest time cutting to the core of us Humans and our ability to shut the door on other Human beings.

Rock and Roll medicine. Get yer' Yayas out with Honey Dust they will Rock you.

This is Buttercup, its about a horse, though you would never know it, I hope you enjoy.
