The Ed Early Band
was at Peri's on New Year's Eve I had some hopes earlier back in December
of getting some video of the show. This band is one of those
neglected treasures of Rock and I call them Rock but they would be
most accurately described as Blues and R&B band though in fact
they Rock...real well!
You know we had the flood earlier that New Year's Day I was
lucky to get out at all I got there shortly before midnight and
caught a very rocking Mustang Sally leading up to the midnight
hour.

Ed Early plays Trombone and sings a very earthy Blues and
plays a very mean Trombone... it is a potent deep grooving
musical force. I first encountered the music of Ed Early back in the
80s when I used to catch the great Elvin Bishop up in Cotati or in
San Rafael. Ed still plays with Elvin on a regular basis don't ever
miss that show.
In Ed's own band he has a strong supporting cast with one of
our local tv celebrities SAG artist Crisco Janda on Drums.
The great Richie on Keys just one of the best, though he says he's
getting to old to lug the Hammond B3 out anymore it doesn't matter,
great sounds. You got Ian Lamson on guitar a fantastic young
guitarist who also has put some time in with Elvin Bishop. The Bass
man has been laying down that bass for I believe for just a couple
of months and sorry I'll have his name up here in a couple of days.
Listen here this was recorded late into the night as a matter
of fact it may have been the last tune enjoy!
Someday Baby.
I have one more track that I want to play for you too but Someday
Baby! Happy New Year!
