Bandlands

  July 17, 2006

 Hey Friends,
I am away for two weeks on vacation. You are entirely justified wondering when am I ever here taking care of business. Life is been too much of a pedal to the medal cab driving experience lately, and as usual know one to blame but myself. Vacation. Old Bills new Bills. Braking down equipment. High Tech world, low Tech Guy. Driven.

Hey it's OK Guy, maybe a getaway is what you need.

We will just see what happens as the Summer turns to Fall, but that is not now. Now is Now. Great Music in the Park in my Town, thank you The Roadoilers, and Rusty Evans and Ring of Fire that was today, thank you. You rocked us well and thanks for showing up you all that did and you know who you are. Thanks to The Green Room with special guest Tommy Odetto of Soul Pie (No, the band is still together or at least a new variation) young hot players Tony Owens, Buddy Owens son, and the what were almost the Monophonics but were not quite, opening up two weeks ago.

A brilliant and beautiful concert by the Tubes last weekend in SF. A great reunion and wonderful tribute to Vince Welnick. Spooner was terrific... both of them. Please check out that band coming to a town near you.  WPOD was insane...

Please please kids keep the Heck away from all those sick drugs out there, you ain't no fun to no one destroyed. No fun at all. Crap is Crap. Rock Clean or can't you just stick with a pint and an occasional whiff of herb. Yes you can Rock High and Sober too yes you can you just have to be a bit of a nut, a bit bolder than the average nut, yes you can can we need you to say yeah to Nothing just give me the good Rock. Some day we will prove it. .. we will Rock High. I know there are a lot of you living the Spirit Rock lifestyle.

 Thanks for the good Rock:

The Rob Robinson Band with Felix Brian and Lee are starting to move into the next dimension lately please check them out at 19 Broadway on Wednesdays and their occasional Rafters gig these guys are living and playing in stellar dimensions.

Chuck Day Burning it up on Friday Night at Peri's. There is no better Old School Rocking than Chuck's. Wendy Fitz impressing me more and more on keyboards, Howie Court back in on drums, Tim, Sam no I don't take you for granted... Noah Schull did a very capable job sitting in on rhythm guitar. Actually quite difficult I would say to play gracefully under this initial expedition and you don't know what Chuck is going to want to play and Noah handled it real well. Danny Uzi came in and closed out the show with Chuck doing Delta Lady. The new CD is coming along and according to the engineers it merits a whistle a shake of the head as if to say this stuff is the Shit, is Sick, is the Bomb all that weird way of saying those guys, Chris and Zeke at KP Studios, think.... they have Chuck Day great music on tape from studio work,  mostly self-accompanied a bit raw I guess. I hope it is. We will hear soon.

Who am I forgetting? Everybody... no...  hey Honey Dust, Darren and the boys rocking hard at the 4th Street Tavern Love them. Love the Marones those guys rate a definite check them out.

Oh that's right, Spin Out..... do not miss Spin Out. Anybody who likes to keep an eye on who is making hot music.. Not just because of Danny Uzi formerly (shush.. get over it Guy!) of Chrome Johnson playing with them again and they seem to be plotting even more madness. Rockabilly Black Sabbath and Radar Love was hot. Of course their lead singer Matt is a great vocalist already they don't need Danny there and their guy Tom, on Guitar is just a ripping fine guitar I mean you don't really need Danny there, but Holy CMoly if you do add him in there... things get really really interesting.

 Sanford is working on Groovebone.

Bruce Foreman, jazz guitarist in town next month doing some kind of Country Bee-Bop... is this world swinging too far with all this Country stuff? Tim Bush says check him out!
It's Country and Western remember Guy and you are West... but I am going East and maybe I am just really going .......South.

Hey Darren and Danny are knee deep working on their Rock Opera too.
Danny Montana and Buckaroo Bonet and Crash Landing.

Life moves right along.

Lil Denny again, as I ride off into the sunrise.

 Frontier Airlines to El Paso.
   Then across the Rio Grandio.

My Bon Voyage ahead, God willing,
 Peace and Good Rocking,
   Guy
