Michael Jarrett
Michael Jarrett plays keyboards for Vikki Lee and the
Pinecones but he is quite a musical talent in his own right. From
his younger days of touring the Northwest opening up for Jerry Lee
Lewis, penning a couple of tunes for 'the King' to the places in
between then and now maybe somewhere I'll
catch up on more of the history of Michael's musical efforts one of
these days.

While in San Anselmo for the Creek Park gig Michael turned me
on to his new CD due to be released on LA based Cool Records. It's a
CD called 'Journey Into Love'. It's a very intriguing and mysterious
little piece of music that Michael plays Keys, Trilogy Bass and
inhabits the spirit this voice of the man on the Love quest. In many
ways it reminds me of Rod McKuen poetry from the 60's. Although this
CD is being released as a Michael Jarrett CD Michael tells me it
easily could have been Trevor McShane and in reality it truly maybe
Trevor McShane's Journey into Love. Trevor McShane was the poet, the
lyricist the guiding force behind this project. The CD bears the
name Michael Jarrett as he was the creative musical force but as
Michael says that he wants to be honest and let people know that it
is not exactly him in fact it is not really his style of music on
this CD. He says he can imagine if this CD became a hit in Europe
and here he would come walking out of the Jet to the adoring crowds
who might be expecting perhaps a Barry White person, a love stud, a
most eligible bachelor and see this old western prospector, a
mountain goat, white-haired geezer and demand their money
back. All right you didn't throw all that stuff in there maybe you
aren't a geezer, a mountain goat, or even a western prospector
(artistic license), what did Michael tell me as we sat in his Van in
front of Matteucci's letting it rip on his car stereo? Basically
Michael wants you all to know the full truth about who Michael
Jarrett is.
I am going to quote a little bit of the liner notes from
Trevor McShane..
" ...hook up again we did. Michael's fierce and awesome talent
and enthusiasm unlocked my creativity and I marveled as Michael put
an unexpected spin on my words pushing them into musical directions
that are sensitive, compelling and unique. It's audio honey- a new
style where pop, hip-hop and jazz meld into a mellifluous groove
that is contemporary yet ...." that's right all that good
stuff. Trevor ends up his notes by adding. "Thanks for taking
the time to listen. Michael worked very hard on this and it shows.
It is an honor to work with him. This is from our hearts to
yours-"
Trevor McShane January 2005
So I hope you enjoy this excerpt of Michael's title tune 'Journey
to Love'
Tip your hat to Trevor McShane and Michael Jarrett for
teaming up and coming up with this intriguing work.
Here is Michael doing some of the work he is perhaps a little
more at home with from Creek Park. By the way Michael had an episode dealing with a
keyboard that wanted to separate itself from its stand in the midst
of a couple of tunes and it is the subject of some commentary by my
favorite woman of wild wit Vikki Lee.

I have the Blues
...
Wow! What a
great Band Vikki! Got to get on the Road with the Pinecones.
